Mary is a native Dallasite who graduated from St. Monica and then Ursuline Academy. After Ursuline, she attended Boston College where she majored in English and minored in Spanish. She spent her junior year abroad in Sevilla, Spain and enjoys practicing Spanish with anyone who will let her! She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2000 and then joined the Alliance for Catholic Education (“ACE”) program through the University of Notre Dame. ACE is a program through AmeriCorps that allows people to serve as educators in under-resourced schools around the United States while earning a master’s in education from Notre Dame. Mary spent 2 years teaching third grade in East Los Angeles, California and graduated from Notre Dame in 2002 with an M.Ed.
She moved back home to attend law school at SMU where she graduated Cum Laude. During law school, Mary took nearly every class available regarding real estate and has maintained an interest in that field. Mary spent the first 7 years of her legal career with an international firm where she practiced high-stakes litigation in Texas state and federal courts. She now practices at Calhoun, Bhella, and Sechrest as a commercial litigator. Most of her cases involve real estate in some capacity. In 2021, she decided to take her long-time interest to the next level and obtain her real estate license. Her extensive education and background mean she can help clients understand their rights, the laws, and contracts they are entering into when they buy and sell a home. Mary is also keenly aware of and able to advise clients on possible pitfalls during a real estate transaction. Mary is passionate about helping other people and loves being able to be part of the process of others realizing the American dream of home ownership.
